Movies Anywhere, the cloud-based digital locker for your online movie purchases, is now available on Samsung Smart TVs, the company has announced. Owners of Samsung Smart TVs launched in 2017 and beyond can now download and use the app to store, stream, and download their purchased digital films.
Launched in 2014, Movies Anywhere is a cross-platform service that syncs your purchased movie libraries from multiple digital video platforms. The service works with all major platforms including iTunes, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, Microsoft Movies & TV, Xfinity, FandangoNOW, Verizon Fios TV, DIRECTV, and Vudu. Movies Anywhere also provides a general overview of the content. You can see the release date, running time, ratings, and more.
Given the vast number of such digital retailers available currently, Movies Anywhere makes it all less cumbersome for its users. Wherever you make the purchase, you can access your movie libraries in one place, in a single collection. Overall, the service boasts a collection of over 8000 movies from all major studios. These include Sony Pictures Entertainment, The Walt Disney Studios, Universal Pictures, and Warner Bros. Entertainment.
Movies Anywhere is available on a vast number and categories of devices. It already works on compatible Apple TVs, Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Android TVs, Roku devices, LG TVs (2017 models and newer), and Vizio SmartCast TVs. Now with the latest expansion to Samsung Smart TVs, the service has finally come to the largest network of Smart TVs in the United States.
The Movies Anywhere app for Samsung Smart TVs supports both the Screen Pass and Watch Together features. The former allows you to share one of your purchases with other users. You can lend your movies to your friends and family members for 72 hours.
The Watch Together feature, meanwhile, works as a virtual theater. You can create a watch party and invite up to eight other people to watch the movie together. It also includes a shared chat room where you can have conversations with other participants.
In addition to the big screen devices, the Movies Anywhere app is also available on mobile devices. Android smartphones and tablets running Lollipop (5.0) or later, iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch running iOS 12 or later, and Amazon Fire Tablets running FireOS 5 or later all support this digital locker app.
Moreover, the service also has a Windows PC and Mac version and works on the web as well, through Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge browsers. You can find the full list of supported devices and requirements here.
