According to Android Police, there is a new Google Photos search feature on the horizon. Google Photos recently began rolling out a new powerful video editor as well. As of now searching through photos on Google Photos is simple. You type what you’re looking for and you find it.

However, there aren’t many actual search tools. News coming from Jane Manchun Wong via Twitter is showing that ‘Filters’ are a work-in-progress feature set to come to Google Photos. Below the search bar, there is a Filters button.

In terms of options for the filters, there are ones for selfies, videos, and motion photos. When these filters get combined with your search terms it can get more specific. You can look for a selfie of specific people like yourself, your friend, etc.

For anybody out there who is a Google Photos search savant, you know that you can get specific with what you search. You can type in a specific search query and get these same results. However, those who are not as keen may think they can only search for a person and leave it at that.

They may not think of searching “selfie of me and my wife in Puerto Rico.” As a result, it could be that Google knows this and the company wants to make it easier for everyone to find what they want. The new filters look like it will make the powerful search capabilities more user-friendly which is good.

This being a leak of course means that there is no solid timeline on when this will roll out officially. Hopefully, it will not be too long. Having these filters can really help. But, hopefully, the feature will come to everyone. There are some tools that are exclusive to Google One users.

Having some features exclusive to Google One users makes sense though. Google One users pay for storage, and because of that will get new features not available to users on free plans. However, as mentioned earlier there is a new video editor that has been rolled out to everyone.

The new video editor gives more control over how to make your videos look better. Users will be able to correct color, sharpness, brightness, and more of the basics.

However, the new video editor does not allow for combining clips into a longer movie. This would have been very helpful, but users will still be able to make their clips look good anyway.
