Nokia 2 4 Android 11

The Nokia 2.4 is the Finnish company’s latest device to get the Android 11 update. The 2020 budget mid-ranger is now receiving the latest version of Android in a number of countries across several continents.

As is always the case with Nokia, the update is rolling out in waves. The first wave of Android 11 rollout for the Nokia 2.4 begins this week and will cover users in the following 35 countries:

Algeria, Bahrain, Cambodia, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Laos, Latvia, Lebanon, Libya, Lithuania, Macau, Malaysia, Morocco, Nepal, Norway, Oman, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Tunisia, the UAE, the USA, Vietnam, and Yemen.

10% of the total Nokia 2.4 users in these regions will receive the update immediately. Nokia hopes to cover around 50 percent of the total user base by April 27th, i.e. today. The Wave 1 rollout is expected to be completed by April 28th. Nokia has yet to share the details about the Wave 2 rollout. The second wave will cover the rest of the markets where the phone is available. However, it’s unclear when the rollout will begin.

Another Nokia phone picks the Android 11 update

Nokia has been pretty poor with its software update speed despite many of its phones being part of Google’s Android One program, which promises timely updates and strong software support. Nearly seven months into the release of Android 11, only a handful of Nokia phones have picked the new software so far.

The Nokia 8.3 5G was the first to receive the big update. It was followed by the Nokia 3.2, Nokia 8.1, Nokia 2.3, Nokia 2.2, Nokia 4.2, and now, the Nokia 2.4. That’s seven devices in total. According to the company’s official Android 11 update roadmap, the Nokia 5.3, Nokia 1.3, Nokia 3.4, Nokia 7.2, Nokia 6.2, Nokia 1 Plus, and the Nokia 9 PureView are still pending the update. The likes of Nokia 5.4 and Nokia 1.4 also have yet to get Android 11.

Samsung, on the other hand, has rolled out the Android 11 update to countless device models during the same period. Nokia wants to compete against Samsung and others in the smartphone industry. However, with this kind of software support, it may even struggle to survive in the long run.

Nonetheless, if you rock the Nokia 2.4, expect to finally get the taste of Android 11 in the coming days. Since it’s a major Android OS update, we recommend you connect your phone to a stable Wi-Fi network before downloading the update package that is rolling out over the air (OTA).
