Based on the information provided by SamMobile, the Galaxy Z Fold Lite may not launch this year at all. Samsung is allegedly planning to announce only two foldables in 2021, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 2.

The Galaxy Z Fold Lite probably won’t launch in 2021

It was reported, last year, that the Galaxy Z Fold Lite will launch by March 2021. That didn’t happen, and some people are wondering what’s going on. Well, this report does suggest that the device won’t launch at all this year.

That device was supposed to offer a more affordable foldable smartphone to consumers

The Galaxy Z Fold Lite was supposed to offer a more affordable foldable smartphone to Samsung’s consumers. That would make sense considering that foldable phones are quite expensive.

Price tags of foldable smartphones will likely go down as time goes by, but at the moment, such devices are quite pricey. Samsung will also have quite a bit of competition this year.

Xiaomi had announced its first foldable smartphone recently. The Mi MIX Fold. That phone got announce in China only, for now, but it is likely coming to more markets soon.

Both OPPO and Vivo are expected to announce their first foldable smartphones this year

Both OPPO and Vivo are expected to offer their first foldable smartphones this year, not to mention that Xiaomi is tipped to launch two more foldables in 2021. Motorola will join the party as well, while Huawei presented its Mate X2 foldable earlier this year.

Several other companies may join, and present their foldable devices as well. Consumers will have more options this year, that’s for sure. Samsung is still leading the foldable smartphone race, though, and completely owns the market.

It’s quite likely that won’t change this year, but its market share may decrease, considering many more options will be available. Samsung does have way more experience making foldable phones, though, and it already released several iterations of its foldable phones.

It remains to be seen what are the company’s plans for rollable smartphones, though. Samsung is probably already developing them. OPPO did announce its concept rollable smartphone, which won’t become available anytime soon. LG’s rollable phone will never see the light of day, as LG Mobile is shutting down.
