Although iOS users have had the luxury of access to Clubhouse for the better part of the last year or so, Android users have not been so lucky. Instead, we’ve had to wait for competitors to arise, including the likes of Twitter Spaces. However, if you still feel like you’re missing out on something for the “cool kids”, then the wait is finally over, kind of.

Over the weekend, Clubhouse took everyone by surprise as it finally released the beta version of Clubhouse for Android. The app seems to include many of the same features as its iOS counterpart, but we need to do a bit more deep-diving before that can really be solidified. For now, the big things missing from the Android version is the payment system, along with the ability to create “clubs” within the app.

The app is available to download from the Play Store, so you don’t have to jump through any hoops or download a separate APK file just to try it out. However, Clubhouse is sticking to its guns with its played-out “invitation-only” format, meaning that you can download the app, but have to apply to be accepted into the service. Or, you can find someone on Twitter who already has a Clubhouse membership and see if you can get an invitation.

On the bright side, if you’re tired of invitation systems and just want to use Clubhouse, the company confirmed plans to build up its servers and frameworks to bring more users to the platform. We’re hoping that this will open the flood gates, although it may be too little too late. In recent weeks, Twitter Spaces has made its way to more users, while the social media giant has added a tip jar for select accounts, and best of all, you don’t have to deal with invitations.
