Dashlane has just launched a new plan called “Essentials”, which as you might expect by the name, only offers you the essentials at a lower price. This move is in regards to LastPass’ latest moves which force customers to pay for the service. The only thing, is Dashlane Essentials is the same price as LastPass. So it didn’t quite make the most of this opportunity.
Dashlane Essentials is going to cost $2.99 per month, but that is only if you pay annually at $36. Otherwise, it’ll cost you $3.99 per month. Dashlane does still offer a free account, but that is still limited to 50 passwords only. While Essentials allows you to save unlimited passwords.
For this cheaper price, you get the ability to save unlimited passwords to your account. And the ability to use the service on two devices. If you have a smartphone and a laptop, then it’ll be perfect. But if you use other devices like maybe a second computer or a tablet, then this won’t work. And of course, that makes it tougher to share with others.
You will also get security alerts when your passwords are compromised. Dashlane also offers “secure notes” so you can keep notes in your Dashlane account and not worry about them getting hacked. This is great for saving credit card numbers, or something else you don’t want others to see. You also get the password generator and a password health monitor, to show you how good or bad your password is.
What’s impressive here is that Dashlane can automatically change your passwords for you. To keep your accounts safe, and you won’t need to worry about remembering them, as Dashlane will automatically save them to your account.
It’s a decent plan, and much cheaper than their regular plan that is $4.99 per month, but if you do use more than two devices, then it’s not going to be worth the price. And you’ll want to get the Premium account for $4.99 per month. Or the Family plan for $7.49 per month.
