According to the information from SamMobile, the development of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 firmware has started. No additional information has been shared regarding its firmware, but it is in development now. Also, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 battery information surfaced, claiming that the phone will feature a smaller battery than the Galaxy Z Fold 2. Let’s talk about the firmware first, shall we.

Its firmware is in development

The Samsung SM-F926 is the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s model number. It was previously revealed that the phone will come with at least 256GB of internal storage, and ship with Android 11. On top of Google’s OS, you’ll get Samsung’s One UI 3.5 skin.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 will feature a smaller battery than its predecessor

Now, according to a separate report from Korea, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is likely to have a similar battery capacity as its predecessor. It is tipped to include a 4,380mAh battery, compared to a 4,500mAh unit on the Galaxy Z Fold 2.

Now, the smaller battery capacity probably won’t affect battery life all that much, considering the improved SoC with better power consumption, and other changes. The battery life probably got decreased because of the inclusion of the S Pen.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to be the first Fold-branded handset to include an S Pen. Samsung likely needed to make room for that inclusion, which is why the battery capacity is slightly smaller. Speaking of which, we’re probably looking at a dual battery system here.

It will also feature a slightly smaller display

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is also tipped to include a slightly smaller main display than its predecessor. It will likely ship with a 7.5-inch panel, while the display on the Galaxy Z Fold 2 measures 7.6 inches.

The Snapdragon 888 will almost certainly fuel the phone. We’re still not sure when will it launch, but the rumors are saying it’s coming in June or July. That means it will arrive sooner than the Galaxy Z Fold 2 did last year, as it launched in August.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 may actually launch alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 2, another foldable smartphone. Those are only rumors at this point, though, we’ll have to wait and see what will happen.
