The One UI 3.1 update is now rolling out to the 5G variant of the Samsung Galaxy A51. The device is currently picking up the new update in South Korea, with firmware version A516NKSU3CUC8. The rollout should expand to other regions in the coming days.
The Galaxy A51 5G follows its 4G counterpart that picked up the latest iteration of Samsung’s custom Android skin at the end of March. And much like the 4G-only Galaxy A51, the 5G variant had also previously received the update to Android 11 based One UI 3.0. So One UI 3.1 is a relatively smaller package for the phone.
Samsung’s amazing run with Android 11 updates this year saw it push the latest version of the Android OS to dozens of smartphone models relatively quickly. While most of the devices initially picked up Android 11 with One UI 3.0 on top, the Korean firm soon started pushing One UI 3.1 to them.
If you recall, One UI 3.1 debuted with the Galaxy S21 series earlier this year. The new software is also based on Android 11 and has since made it into several other Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The Galaxy A51 5G is now picking it up as well.
One UI 3.1 brings a handful of new features and enhancements such as the Eye Comfort Shield (enhanced blue light filter), video call effects, and new camera features. You also now get an option to remove location data from photos before sharing them with your friends and family, or on social media. The latest update further introduces minor tweaks to certain UI elements to make navigation through the menus simpler.
So it’s a fairly important update for the Galaxy A51 5G. If you own the phone, be on the lookout for the One UI 3.1 update in the coming days. Note that over-the-air (OTA) updates are released in batches and may not be available for all eligible units simultaneously. You should receive a notification prompting you to download the OTA file once it becomes available for your phone.
You can also manually check for updates through your phone’s Settings app. Navigate to the Software update menu and tap on Download and install to check if an update is waiting for you. Your phone will prompt you to download the update if there’s any available. We recommend you connect your phone to a stable Wi-Fi network before downloading the OTA file.
