Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra Review AM AH 4

Samsung is bringing more camera features of the Galaxy S21 series to the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 phones. The 2020 Galaxy flagships are currently picking up a new update introducing those new features. The Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 20, and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra are all receiving this camera update.

According to a SamMobile report, these phones can now capture portrait images in low-light conditions as well. The Night Mode also now works with the ultrawide camera on the Galaxy S20 as well as the Galaxy Note 20 phones. Earlier, both of these features were exclusive to the Galaxy S21 series.

The latest update also introduces three new studio-like effects in the Portrait mode in last year's Galaxy flagships. The new backdrop, high-key mono, and low-key mono effects let you change the background color of a photo. You can change the background color to black or white, or let the camera app randomly choose a color.

Other notable additions include the ability to use the maximum possible exposure or let the camera choose the exposure in the Night Mode. Last but not least, the ultrawide lens can now be used in Pro Mode as well.

Galaxy S20 and Note 20 phones pick up more Galaxy S21 camera features with a new update

The Galaxy S21 series is a photography powerhouse, to say the least. The device arrived in January this year, packing some impressive camera features. Now some of these features are making it into the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 phones.

Unfortunately, though, the Galaxy S21's Director View, which is one of the best camera features on a smartphone ever, isn't still coming to Samsung's older flagships. Director's View lets you see the output from all three rear cameras at once, and switch between the rear cameras and the front camera at the same time. This allows users to capture a scene in the best possible way from their phone.

Many were hopeful of this feature making it into older Galaxy flagships with a software update. However, it seemingly isn't coming to any other Samsung smartphone. SamMobile speculates that the limitations in those phone's ISP (image signal processors) could be the reason for this.

Nonetheless, there's still plenty to rejoice about in the latest update for the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 phones. The update is currently rolling out with firmware version G98xxXXU7DUC7 for the Galaxy S20 series and N98xxXXU1DUC8 for the Galaxy Note 20 series in Germany. It should make its way into other regions in the coming weeks. You can check for the update by navigating to the Software update menu in your phone's Settings app and tapping on Download and install.
