The Galaxy S20 FE is picking up yet another software update – its third this month. The latest update is currently rolling out in numerous European countries and it brings the April 2021 Android security patch. It is available for both unlocked and carrier variants of the phone.

The new update bumps the firmware version of the 4G variant of the Galaxy S20 FE to G780FXXS2CUC8. Note that the 5G variant of the phone has yet to pick up the latest update. However, it should be only a matter of time now. The rollout should also expand to other regions in the coming days.

Galaxy S20 FE picks up the April security patch with the latest update

As has been the trend in recent times, Samsung has once again rolled out the latest Android security maintenance release (SMR) to its smartphones much before Google could publish the contents. We are yet to enter the month of April and the Korean firm has already pushed this month's security update to the Galaxy S21, Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy A51, Galaxy A52, and now, the Galaxy S20 FE.

While some of these phones also picked up new features or enhancements with the latest update, it's only security fixes for Samsung's affordable flagship. However, as said before, the device has received multiple software updates this month. And if you recall, the last update for the device, which rolled out to the 5G variants only last week, introduced several Galaxy S21 camera features to it.

The ability to use the ultrawide camera in the Pro mode and the new studio-like effects in the Portrait mode are some of the new camera features that are now available on the Galaxy S20 FE. Samsung is also seemingly preparing to bring Galaxy S21's Director's View feature to its older flagships. It remains to be seen whether the Galaxy S20 picks it up.

For the uninitiated, Director's View gives users more control over the cameras while recording. You can see the real-time output from all of the phone's cameras at once. This allows you to capture a scene in the best possible way from your phone.

Nonetheless, the Galaxy S20 FE is currently picking up the April 2021 Android security patch in Europe. The latest update should also be available in other regions in the coming days. If you own a Galaxy S20 FE, you can check for updates from the Software update section in the Settings app.
