According to the latest reports, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 may ditch the storage silo for the S Pen, but Samsung has a compelling reason for that.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is one of the most anticipated smartphones for this year, and many fans are excited about the next generation of Samsung’s foldable phone. Dates back to last February, Samsung announced that the S Pen support comes to the Z Fold 3, and it will be a core feature for the device.
Bringing S Pen support to a foldable smartphone is good news, but here is something that may disappoint you. According to a new report, Galaxy Z Fold 3 is bare of any storage silo for keeping the S Pen. So where to put the S Pen when it’s not in use? Maybe in your pocket.
The initial plan for the next Z Fold was to add a stylus silo like the Galaxy Note, but the foldable design was a big obstacle. According to the Korean source, “due to lack of space for internal parts and waterproof and dustproof,” Samsung decided to ditch the S Pen storage silo for the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
The foldable smartphone must have a thinner design, and adding a storage silo for the S Pen may increase the thickness of the phone. This has a negative impact on the user experience and makes it harder to keep the phone in the pocket.
This is not the first time that Samsung decides to kill the storage silo for its stylus pen. At Galaxy S21 Ultra, the Korean company did something similar. Removing the storage silo may reduce the thickness of the phone, but instead, it destroys the usefulness of the S Pen.
Moreover, it leaves a big question in customers’ minds: Where should I put this fragile pen? Anyway, we hope you can find a place for it.
We expect to see the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in summer 2021 with some fantastic features. The latest leaks suggest that it may come with an under-display camera, a 4,380mAh battery, and Android 11 with One UI 3.5. Also, some sources claimed that the Z Fold 3 is smaller than the Z Fold 2.
Moreover, there won’t be a significant difference between the new Z Fold and the last generation in terms of design.
