The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will use one of Sony’s camera sensors under its foldable display. A recent report suggested that the phone will utilize an under-display camera under its main display. Well, a well-known tipster just said the same thing, while also sharing some more details about it.

Tron, a tipster, shared the Galaxy Z Fold 3 camera specs last month, well, some of them. He now did it again, but while doing so, he corrected one statement. Last month, he wasn’t sure what camera will Samsung use for a selfie shooter on the main display.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 may use Sony’s camera sensor under its foldable display

Based on the new information he shared, we’ll get a 16-megapixel Sony IMXx71 camera with 1um pixel size. That camera will be placed under the phone’s foldable display. We still don’t know what sensor exactly, but this info does close the gap.

Now, in regards to the rest of its cameras. You can expect to get three 12-megapixel units on the back. The main camera will probably be taken from the Galaxy S21, and the same goes for the ultra-wide one.

When it comes to the cover display’s front-facing camera, Tron claims we’ll get a 10-megapixel Sony IMX374 sensor with a 1.22um pixel size. That is the camera Samsung used on the Galaxy S21.

The phone will be water and dust resistant

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to be IP rated for water and dust resistance. The Snapdragon 888 will fuel the device, while you can expect either 12GB or 16GB of RAM to be included.

The phone will support an S Pen stylus, though that stylus will be different from the previous ones. Its tip will be more rounded, so that it doesn’t damage the display. Also, you won’t be able to dock it inside the phone. Samsung will release a case for it, though. The S Pen will be sold separately.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 was rumored to arrive in July, but it may happen in August. The device is rumored to launch alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and S21 FE.
