From the day that Google introduced Android Wear (now called Wear OS), we have been hoping for a Pixel-branded smartwatch. It turns out that Google had seemingly canceled its Pixel Watch efforts, which brought us the LG Watch Style and Watch Sport. These were launched along with the release of Android Wear 2.0 and provided a stylish, yet not so functional, Android Wear experience. Google worked closely with LG on the design and integration with Android Wear, but the smartwatches largely fell flat.

Fast forward to today, and Jon Prosser is back at it again with the first look at some renders of the Google Pixel Watch. The Watch has been codenamed “Rohan”, and provides a 360-degree display, along with a single crown/button on the right side. Prosser claims that he has official images of the Watch itself, but since those cannot be shared publicly to protect the leaker’s identity, these renders were created.

It seems that we’ll be getting a few different color schemes, along with different colored watch bands to go along with a Google-designed semi-basic watch face. Prosser could not share when the Pixel Watch would be coming, although we can speculate that it will be arriving alongside the next major version of Wear OS and potentially alongside the Pixel 6. Google is expected to reveal its next flagship smartphone this Fall with the Pixel 6, and it’s rumored that this will be the first device to feature Google’s own ‘Whitechapel’ CPU, developed with the help of Samsung.

Given the current shortage of mobile processors across the globe, it’s possible that that the Pixel Watch could be delayed past this Fall. Only time will tell, so we’ll have to wait and see what’s to come.

For one, this looks stunningly beautiful (despite only being renders), and could really give the Apple Watch a run for its money if Google manages to streamline and fine-tune Wear OS. Let us know what you think about these renders in the comments and whether you’re looking forward to potentially get one of these.
