FPS Boost for the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S has been one of Microsoft’s more exciting feature additions for the two new consoles. With it, players can experience faster frame rates. Specifically in tons of titles that didn’t previously have as smooth of an experience.
Both the Xbox Series X and the Series S will support up to 120 frames per second. A rather big increase in frame rates compared to the Xbox One generation. What FPS Boost does is bump up games that previously ran at below 60 frames per second to one of those two speeds. Which games benefit the most from FPS Boost depends mostly on the game. As not all games will run at 120Hz.
If you’re someone who’s picked up one of the new Xbox consoles, chances are you’re going to want to know which games are supported by the FPS Boost feature. Microsoft will continue to add titles to its list of compatible games. And just recently it added another 74 games get the speed bumps. Making for a total of 97.
In this post we’ve gathered up every single game that has FPS Boost support on the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. And we’ll periodically be adding more titles to the list as Microsoft announces them. For your convenience, everything has been categorized by genre and then alphabetized.
Each game will also be labeled with the FPS Boost frame rate, as well as the compatibility with Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S.
As the name of the genre suggests, titles in this category are often filled with plenty of action. Whether it be the stress-inducing action of games like Dead Island Definitive Edition or the more family-friendly action of LEGO Marvel’s Avengers.
With big worlds to explore, tons of main quests, side quests, and NPCs to interact with, role playing games are some of the most involved games you can play. And for investing your time with a role playing game you’re often transported to the world the game takes place in. You’re more likely to get emotionally invested in the story development of characters, and there’s usually many hours of gameplay to sink your teeth into.
Big jumps, a hole in one, and goals from the across the field. Sports games are all about recreating the fun and excitement of the real-life sport.
You know the deal. You’re the hero, and almost everything else is standing in your way of overcoming objectives and/or winning the match. Use the utterly massive arsenal of weapons at your disposal to mow your enemies down and claim victory for yourself.
Show off your skills to anyone that thinks they can best you by unleashing a flurry of combo attacks. Fighting games are fun but can also be extremely technical.
If you fancy your games to require a little more critical thinking to ensure success, strategy games are worth your time. MOBAs like SMITE require you to think on your feet as quickly as you can to outsmart and outplay your opponents. Whereas games like Dungeon Defenders II allow you a little more time to potentially make the right decision.
You’ll need to really focus and tap into that attention to detail to solve the puzzles you will generally encounter in these kinds of games. Some puzzles are a little more obvious than others, where some may have you stuck for days on end.
Great for everyone in the family, and suitable for all ages. Expect plenty of adorable themes, down to earth fun gameplay, and experiences that area nice break from the more serious titles.
Take the track and dominate all other drivers, or just some catch some big air on that last jump before the finish line. Racing titles are a great choice if you love cars, bikes, or anything that you can drive or fly really fast.
