It seems like Samsung will use the Galaxy Z Flip 3 name after all. We’ve seen a ton of reports thus far, sharing conflicting information. Some said the Galaxy Z Flip 2 will be the name, others that the Z Flip 3 will be the company’s choice.
Well, according to some new information from a tipster called “Tron”, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is the way to go. According to him, Samsung is referring to the Galaxy Z Flip 5G as the Galaxy Z Flip 2 in the new Galaxy Upcycling program.
The original Galaxy Z Flip is referred to by that same name, but its 5G variant is called the Z Flip 2. So, by every logic there is, the next phone will be called the Galaxy Z Flip 3.
The fact that Samsung is referring to an existing product as the Galaxy Z Flip 2 should be proof enough that the upcoming one won’t carry that same name.
Just to clarify, Samsung announced two Z Flip phones thus far, the Galaxy Z Flip and Z Flip 5G. Both have been announced last year, and they’re almost the same. The first one doesn’t have 5G connectivity, though.
That being said, the next Galaxy Z Flip handset is expected to arrive alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in July. Most rumors have been saying that Samsung wants to bring the Z Flip lineup to the same level as the Z Fold lineup, in other words, streamline their namings.
That’s where the Galaxy Z Flip 3 rumors started, and they’ve been around for quite some time now. It makes sense, in a way. It especially makes sense if we include this new proof into the equation.
Based on everything we know thus far, the next Galaxy Z Flip handset will be called the Galaxy Z Flip 3. This is not exactly a confirmation from Samsung’s side, but it’s proof enough.
