Following the launch of the Moto G Stylus (2021) in January, Motorola is seemingly preparing to release one more stylus-equipped smartphone in the coming months. German tech site TechnikNews has obtained some exclusive information about the new device, which is codenamed "Denver."
According to the report, the Motorola Denver is an affordable 5G smartphone powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 480 5G chipset. The device features 4GB of RAM and may come with either 64GB or 128GB of storage. It may be available in gray and red color variants.
On the back of this phone is a quad-camera setup comprising the same 48-megapixel primary shooter and the 8-megapixel ultrawide camera as on the Moto G Stylus (2021), both of which are Samsung ISOCELL sensors. The 2-megapixel Omnivisdion depth camera also carries over unchanged. However, the upcoming phone gets a slightly better 5-megapixel macro camera. The current model has a 2-megapixel sensor for capturing macro shots. The front-facing camera, meanwhile, is the same 16-megapixel sensor from Omnivision.
In January this year, noted leakster Steve Hemmerstoffer, aka OnLeaks, had shared the first look images (CAD-based renders) of what he claimed was the Moto G Stylus (2021). He said that the device may also launch as the Moto G Pro (2021). The real Moto G Stylus (2021) arrived a week later and it didn't look like anything he had shared.
Now, TechnikNews claims that the renders shared by Steve were actually of the Motorola Denver. And as Steve said, this device may indeed arrive as the Moto G Pro (2021), for European markets. If you recall, Motorola launched two almost identical smartphones called Moto G Stylus and Moto G Pro last year, for the US and European markets respectively. The company is seemingly following the same strategy this year as well.
The renders reveal that the upcoming phone also has space for a 3.5mm headphone jack, along with the stylus pen. Steve further claimed that the device has a dimension of 169.6 × 73.7 × 8.8mm and sports a 6.8-inch flat display, which could be an IPS LCD panel with Full HD+ resolution (1080 x 2400 pixels). There's a single punch hole cutout located in the top-left corner of the screen.
Apart from the upgraded macro camera, the Motorola Denver also sees a change in the location of the fingerprint sensor. While the current model gets a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, the upcoming phone has the sensor integrated into the Moto batwing logo on the back.
There's no information available about the pricing of the Motorola Denver, aka Moto G Pro (2021), as yet. The Moto G Stylus (2021) debuted at $280. The upcoming phone may come slightly expensive though, as it offers 5G connectivity. We should get to hear more about it, or perhaps see an official announcement shortly.
