XDA-Developers has reported that Motorola has brought its DeX-like software called “Ready For” to the Motoloa Edge+. The new feature was teased back in December, but with the recent Android 11 update, it's finally here.
Motorola's “Ready For” will allow the Edge+ to display a more traditional desktop-like experience when a user plugs it up to a display. These days consumer always have their smartphone on them, and in most places, smartphones are the only computer many have.
Motorola’s website reads “Get a complete desktop experience with your phone.—even add a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse”. Software like this is really useful. The new feature will let users compose and send emails faster, and edit photos and videos easier.
Being able to put your content on a larger display can make productivity much easier. The “Ready For” feature requires users to connect their Edge+ to a display over video-enabled USB-C or USB-C-to-HDMI. Users can use a TV or monitor, as long as it has an HDMI or USB-C port.
After the user connects their device, they will be presented with a traditional desktop layout including a taskbar with app icons. Users will have a mobile desktop in their pocket which will allow them to view multiple windows at once or take a closer look at videos.
By connecting a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard users will have a more traditional keyboard experience. Video chatting will be improved by the choice of using the 108MP main camera or the 16MP ultra-wide during video chats.
If you love playing Genshin Impact on your Motorola Edge+ just wait until you play it on the big screen. In addition to more screen estate you still have the power of Verizon 5G to make for quick load times. Users can pair a Bluetooth controller to their device to have a better gaming experience.
Being able to watch all of your favorite shows, and see your favorite apps on a bigger screen makes enjoying them much better. Now, Samsung DeX is pretty well known at this point in time. However, this is not the first time Motorola has offered a desktop mode. Back in 2011, Motorola introduced the Motorola Atrix 4G.
The Atrix 4G could give users a desktop-like experience via a custom peripheral. The peripheral was a dock that was a laptop shell. Users would put the Atrix 4G into the dock and receive a laptop-like experience.
Unfortunately, the hardware and software were not as advanced as today. However, with the evolution of smartphone hardware and software, the experience will be much better.
