The launch of the Black Shark 4 and Black Shark 4 Pro gaming phones is apparently just around the corner. According to the official Black Shark account on Weibo, the popular Chinese social network, both phones will be announced in the very near future.

Early this morning, a teaser post went out from that account that mentions the Black Shark 4, "break out power," and the official announcement date, and depicts the phone being used to play games in a teaser image that also mentions the announcement.

The Black Shark 4 launch will happen on March 23

While the two upcoming phones won't necessarily be available to buy the same day, Black Shark does plan to launch the new Black Shark 4 and Black Shark 4 Pro on March 23.

This is the date teased in this morning's post, so the official reveal of the next two notable gaming phones is quickly approaching. As March 23 is now just one week away. The Black Shark 4 will be a series of devices that should come to the US. As past phones have been made available here.

But even if they do, they wouldn't very likely be available at the same time as they are in China. The RedMagic 6 is another good example here. It was available in China a little bit earlier this year. But only just went on sale in the US this morning.

Black Shark may not use the same mobile platform in both phones

The teaser doesn't mention anything about specs. But it's unlikely that the hardware will be anything different from the other top gaming phones. Competition from the likes of ASUS with the ROG Phone 5, and RedMagic with the RedMagic 6, come powered by the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform.

Which is what consumers should expect to see inside of the Black Shark 4 line as well. There are likely to be differences in some of the hardware though. And that'll probably come down to RAM and storage amounts.

Having said that, past recent rumors have speculated that Black Shark may use two different mobile platforms. With one in the Black Shark 4 and a totally different one in the Black Shark 4 Pro. The former is rumored to come with the Snapdragon 870. Meanwhile the Black Shark 4 Pro is rumored to come with the Snapdragon 888.

If that is actually the case, that would help bring the cost down on the standard model phone. Not to mention make it a good entry point for mobile gaming enthusiasts who want a good gaming device but wouldn't mind spending a little bit less.
