With the latest update, a new health feature is coming to the Fitbit Charge 4 fitness band. The Fitbit Charge 4 update adds the on-device SpO2 functionality.

Previously, checking SpO2 levels was possible only via the Fitbit app on smartphones. Now with the new update, Fitbit Charge 4 user can easily check their oxygen saturation levels right from their wrists.

Fitbit announced the Fitbit Charge 4 smart band exactly a year ago. It is the most advanced fitness tracker from the company that features in-built GPS and SpO2.

The new on-device SpO2 measurement feature on the Fitbit Charge 4 smart band is arriving with the update version 1.100.34. It started rolling out yesterday to the users.

The good thing is that Fitbit has also shared a detailed changelog, which includes the following. Your Fitbit device can now estimate your blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) while you sleep. For more information, see, How do I track blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) with my Fitbit device? You can also now view your device’s activation date, which is the day your device’s warranty begins. The activation date is the day you set up your device.

This new Fitbit Charge 4 update is rolling out for users in the US

The point to note here is that this feature is not available for all users. It is currently rolling out for users in the US. To view SpO2 levels, you simply need to swipe up from the clock face. The SpO2 levels will be shown along with other stats.

Apart from the SpO2 measurements, there is another addition to this new update. Firmware version 1.100.34 brings the ability to view a device's activation date.

This may not sound that important, but it will show you when the wearable device's warranty begins. Apparently, it will help you remember the activation date of your device, the day you set up your Fitbit Charge 4 device.

Note that the update is rolling out in phases. Once the update is available for your Fitbit Charge 4 smart band, a banner will appear on top of the Fitbit app on Android and iOS application.

Moreover, you need to make sure that you have the latest version of the Fitbit app, i.e. version 3.39 in order to grab the latest firmware for the Fitbit Charge 4.

SpO2 levels are very important considering the current COVID-19 situation we are living in. With the new feature, you will have the SpO2 measurement right on your wrist and you will be able to keep a track of your health vitals.
