OnePlus' newest flagship handset duo, the Oneplus 9 and 9 Pro, is still hot out of the oven. Regardless, there have been a few updates released that are tweaking the experience. A new Oneplus 9 series update has just been released and it delivers some welcome fixes for the software.
According to Android Police, the list of fixes is relatively short. This new version brings some notable tweaks The version is called Oxygen OS 11.2.3.3, and it weighs in at 105 MB.
The new OnePlus 9 update brings fixes to the devices' connectivity, though it's not clear whether it was targeted to connectivity in general, or to 5G. 5G technology is still improving when it comes to coverage and consistency.
The other main fix is in the camera when it comes to taking stills. Most reviewers still place OnePlus just behind the top shooters like Apple and Samsung, so this update may help close the gap just a bit. The last significant fix is reducing battery usage, thus increasing the devices' stamina. There is a slew of other minor changes that all boil down to tiny software bug fixes.
The OnePlus 9 has been making waves in the smartphone news space as a worthy contender in the smartphone market. It brings a beautiful, if overly glossy, glass design. The display is a large 6.55-inch, Fluid AMOLED panel that's FHD+ in resolution. It can run at 120Hz, which is in line with most flagships in 2021.
OxygenOS is praised for being such an amazing and streamlined version of Android. The OnePlus 9 lags behind some of the competition with a camera that's not-quite-there, a trim that's plastic, and the lack of microSD card expansion.
However, being a phone with the latest Snapdragon SoC, 120Hz display, insanely fast charging, and a charger in the box, the OnePlus 9's good aspects outweigh the bad.
The "Pro" version of the OnePlus 9 brings the spectacular specs and performance of the OnePlus 9, but adds in a few extra features to boost the experience. The OnePlus 9 Pro edges out its little sibling by bringing in a sharper QHD+ display, that's 6.7 inches.
The Pro's display also adapts its refresh rate to what you are doing. It'll drop to as low as 1Hz if you're looking at a still or reading. It supports HDR10+ and MEMC. The design is similar, but instead of a plastic trim, it has a metal one, adding a more premium feel to it. It still lacks the microSD card expansion, and the battery life is less than stellar. As with the OnePlus 9, the camera is still lagging behind the main competition, at least for now. That could change with updates.
