OPPO Wireless Air Charging

As some of you may know, the MWC 2021 in Shanghai is currently ongoing. OPPO is one of the most prominent names there, and the company just announced ‘Wireless Air Charging’ and ‘The Flash Initiative’.

Let’s start with the Wireless Air Charging, shall we. Recently, Xiaomi and Motorola announced their air charging technologies, which can charge a device wirelessly without it being on a charging stand.

New OPPO ‘Wireless Air Charging’ tech can charge devices wirelessly at 7.5W

Well, OPPO just demonstrated something similar to that at MWC 2021 in Shaghai, using the OPPO X 2021 rollable smartphone. OPPO’s technology is a bit faster, though, as it can charge at 7.5W. There’s still no word on when will this reach mass production, though.

In regards to ‘The Flash Initiative’, well, OPPO is planning to offer its charging technology everywhere, basically. This initiative will bring it to cards, public spaces, and new devices as well.

The company has announced some new partners in order to make that happen. Those partners include FAW-Volkswagen, Anker, and NXP Semiconductors. Those three companies are well known in their respective fields of automobiles, portable charging, and chip manufacturing.

‘The Flash Initiative’ is based around OPPO’s VOOC flash charging

The Flash Initiative is based around OPPO’s VOOC flash charging, of course. The company said that each of its new partners will work with proprietary technical designs developed by OPPO, which has applied for more than 2,950 flash charging patents worldwide. It has been granted 1,400 of them already.

What’s interesting, is that OPPO seems to have figured out how to do 100W wireless charging as well. A tipster, Digital Chat Station, claims that it managed to charge a 4,000mAh battery wirelessly using 100W charging in a laboratory setting. It charged up fully in only 16 minutes. We’re not sure when will this tech come to the consumer world, but we’re hoping soon.

OPPO’s VOOC charging has been amongst the most prominent charging solutions for smartphones for years now. The company seems to have huge plans for the future of it.
