The OnePlus 6 and 6T have started receiving a new update which boosts security. We’re talking about the Android security update for April 2021. This update is marked as “OxygenOS 10.3.10” for both smartphones.
The changelog is the same, by the way, and it’s quite short. This update brings April 2021 Android security update to both smartphones. In addition to that, it fixes known issues and improves system stability.
So, OnePlus did tinker with the software behind the scenes for this update, but we do not know what exactly was changed. That’s pretty much it as far as the changelog is concerned.
OnePlus does not that this update is rolling out in stages, as do all other updates that the company releases. That means that you may receive the update today, tomorrow, or in the near future. Some of you may have already received it.
The company also noted that installing a VPN won’t help things. This update is not rolling in one specific region first, it’s rolling out to OnePlus users randomly, so it really doesn’t matter where you’re from.
Now, if you’re unwilling to wait, you can download the updates manually. Download links are included below the article, courtesy of XDA Developers. Before you go ahead and download anything, make sure you’re currently running OxygenOS 10.3.9, because these are incremental updates from that software version.
Also, it’s worth noting that it may be best to wait. OnePlus first releases updates to a smaller number of users because bugs can always creep in. The company usually halts an update if something like that happens, and it did happen in the past.
So, if you’d like to avoid any bugs and whatnot, the best course of action would be to wait for the update to arrive to you, rather than installing it manually. If you simply cannot wait, well, then go ahead and install it.
