A new update is live for the latest flagships from OnePlus, the OnePlus 9, and the 9 Pro. Notably, the new OxygenOS update brings some camera improvements along with May 2021 security patch.
OnePlus has lost its charm when it comes to delivering the latest updates to its smartphone. Despite having a small portfolio, OnePlus phones are struggling to get the latest security updates and firmware updates.
Samsung, on the other hand, even after maintaining a huge portfolio of devices, has remained one of the sought-after brands for delivering the latest firmware or security patches.
Notably, OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro smartphones have already received a few updates in the past. Now, the latest update arrives as OxygenOS 11.2.5.5.
This latest update has been currently spotted for the Indian variant of the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro. We expect it should soon roll out for other regional variants.
We know OnePlus marketed the OnePlus 9 series phones as the best camera phone in collaboration with Hasselblad. But we are all aware that it was just a marketing gimmick.
No, we are not saying the phone’s camera is an outright disaster. We are saying it is not what the company kept boasting about.
Talking about the update, as per the changelog mentioned on the official forum, it improves charging performance, fixes keyboard lagging issues, and improves the stability of the system.
For cameras, the new OxygenOS 11.2.5.5 update for OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro improves the HDR effect in some shooting scenes. Moreover, it also improves the white balance of the rear camera.
Though these new improvements aren’t going to be a game-changer for the OnePlus 9 series cameras, they should at least fine-tune the camera performance.
Apart from the latest May 2021 security patch and camera improvements, this new update also improves the stability of network communication and also improves the performance of the Wi-Fi connection.
The update weighs around 130MB in size. We would advise the owners of the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro to download the update via a stable internet connection.
Similar to other updates, this OTA is rolling out via OTA in batches. Meaning not all users will receive the update straightaway on their phones.
You can manually check for the update by heading over to Settings. Then tap on System Updates. If the updater detects a new update, then it will show you a notification. You need to tap on it to begin the downloading process.
