We now know that the OnePlus 9 series is coming on March 23, and the company’s CEO just revealed another piece of the puzzle. The OnePlus 9 series will ship with a charger in the box.

As most of you know by now, several companies have decided to take the charger out of the retail box. Apple started this trend with the iPhone 12 series, and Samsung followed with the Galaxy S21 series of devices. Xiaomi did it as well, in China, but it’s offering people a choice, at least.

The OnePlus 9 series will ship with a charger, likely a 65W one

Having said that, OnePlus’ CEO, Pete Lau, confirmed that OnePlus will not follow the trend. He confirmed that via the OnePlus Forums, while responding to one of the users who was worried about the whole situation.

OnePlus did not share any information regarding the charging of the OnePlus 9 devices thus far, so we’re not sure what sort of charging we’ll get. At the very least, though, we’ll get 65W fast wired charging that was included in the OnePlus 8T.

That is one of the faster wired charging options in the market, so chances are nobody will have a problem with that. If that ends up being the case, the same 65W charging brick that was included in the OnePlus 8T box, will ship with the OnePlus 9 series.

Both the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro are rumored to support wireless charging

Now, both the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro are rumored to support wireless charging as well, but that’s a whole different story. The 9 Pro is rumored to offer faster wired charging than its sibling (45W vs 30W), but we’ll have to wait for the launch to be sure.

OnePlus’ 65W charger usually costs $35, so we’re glad to hear it’s included in the box. Some people may not need a charger, if they already have it at home, but for most consumers, a charger is a necessity.

The OnePlus 9 series will land on March 23, and will include the OnePlus 9, 9 Pro, and 9R, according to rumors. The OnePlus Watch may also launch on that day, we’ll see.
