OnePlus 9 Pro Hasselblad confirmation

OnePlus won’t offer two years of warranty for the OnePlus 9 series handsets after all, at least not globally. As some of you may remember, Pete Lau said via Weibo, that the devices will ship with two years of warranty. Well, it turns out that doesn’t apply on a global scale.

The OnePlus 9 series handset will not offer 2 years of warranty globally, only in China & EU

Pete Lau’s post was specific to China. So, devices in the US and India, won’t come with a 2-year manufacturer warranty. They will still have one year of warranty, though, as was the case with previous models.

This information was shared by Android Authority, who reached out to OnePlus for further comment, following Pete Lau’s Weibo post. OnePlus said the following: “To answer your question on the below, the Weibo post was specific to China.”

Those of you who live in Europe don’t have to worry about such things. Why? Well, the EU laws basically force manufacturers to offer a 24-month warranty, as a minimum. Do note that this applies to the countries that are a part of the EU (European Union) only, not for other parts of Europe.

It is possible OnePlus will reach some sort of an agreement with carriers, or countries where it ends up selling the devices, and that users will get 2 years of warranty after all. That is not likely, however, but we’ll have to wait and see.

The devices will become official on March 23

The OnePlus 9 series is coming on March 23. The company already confirmed the launch date, along with a ton of other information. OnePlus will launch three devices as part of the series, but one of them will be exclusive to India.

The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro will be sold on a global basis, while the OnePlus 9R will be exclusive to India. OnePlus will also announce the OnePlus Watch on the said date, the company’s very first smartwatch. All in all, it’ll be an exciting day for OnePlus fans, that’s for sure.
