OnePlus is doing great in Europe, it seems, as its sales are up by 388%. This information has been revealed by the Head of Strategy at OnePlus Europe, Tuomas Lampén, during an interview with Android Authority.
Just to be clear, these stats are for the European Union, so the countries that are a part of it. OnePlus does ship its phones to most European countries, but not all of them. The stats are from the first quarter of this year, by the way, in comparison to the same period in 2020.
Not only are the company’s sales up by 388% in Europe, but the revenue soared by 286% as well. It is mainly driven by strong sales of the company’s flagship smartphones.
Premium smartphones accounted for 65-percent of total EU revenue in Q1 2021, it has been revealed. The OnePlus Nord probably took a piece of the pie for itself as well, from the remaining 35-percent.
What’s interesting here, is that the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro pre-orders kicked off in the final week of Q1 2021. So, these numbers are mainly for the OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, and 8T, quite probably. We’d guessed the OnePlus 8T above everything else, though, having in mind its release date.
Some OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro sales may be included, though, as it’s possible quite a few people did get them in that last week of March. It will be interesting to see Q2 stats, that’s for sure.
Mr. Lampén was also asked about the chip shortage issues. He said that such problems should not affect OnePlus, as he’s confident about the company’s European supply. He does not expect any issues in the near future.
Europe is not the only place where OnePlus soared, the same happened in India as well. The company grew more than 300-percent YoY (Year-over-Year) in Q1 2021, according to Counterpoint.
