OnePlus Watch 1

Back in March this year, OnePlus finally forayed into the smartwatch world with its OnePlus Watch. Now, the device, as promised, is receiving a new update that brings always on display on the watch.

Not only this, but the new OnePlus Watch update also brings quite a few new features to the OnePlus Watch. Notably, it adds camera shutter control, new Marathon workout mode, UI optimization, etc.

OnePlus Watch is a decent attempt from OnePlus in the smartwatch world. But it shouldn’t be called a smartwatch. Well, first of all, it is a fitness tracker in the form of a smartwatch. Confused? Let me explain.

For a watch to be called a smartwatch, it should have its own App Store from where users could download apps. It should have reply to notifications feature and also calling functionality.

The problem with the OnePlus Watch is that it does not feature anything apart from calling functionality. So, the OnePlus Watch is not an actual smartwatch.

Anyways the update that is incoming for the watch is an important one. As per PhoneArena, the latest update also fixes a few issues users were facing with the watch.

The latest update for the OnePlus Watch arrives with software version B.48

Last month, the company pushed the update with software version B.40. Now, the latest OnePlus Watch update arrives with software version B.48.

Talking about the features of the update, as already mentioned, it brings AOD to the watch. But one important thing that users need to keep in mind is that using the AOD functionality will have an impact on the battery life of the device.

Since the battery life of the OnePlus Watch is okay-ish to say, it will be interesting to see how drastically the battery life is impacted after the arrival of AOD.

Here is the complete changelog, for your reference:

  • Add Always-on Display dial
  • Remote Control Camera function
  • Add Marathon workout
  • Improvements
    • Optimize system UI details
    • Fix known issues and improve system stability

As usual, the update for the OnePlus Watch is rolling out via OTA in batches. So, it won’t be live for everybody from the word go. However, you can check for the update manually as well.

If the OTA is live for your device, then you should ensure that your watch is at least 40% charged to avoid any issues. Moreover, you need to also ensure that you keep the OnePlus watch close to your phone while the installation process is underway. This way, any disruption to Bluetooth can be avoided.
