When it comes to out-of-the-box device customization, few phone makers can match the sheer number of options offered by a OnePlus device running OxygenOS. You can customize so many different aspects of the interface, all without needing to root or even install a custom launcher.

Today, OnePlus has announced that even more options are on the way as the company will be introducing a new “Theme Store” with the next major release of OxygenOS. This means that you’ll have a one-stop shop for all of the different themes that you can download and try out before deciding on the perfect theme for your next OnePlus device.

In an announcement on the OnePlus Forums, the company announced that it will be hosting an Open Ears Forum (OEF) on May 18th to discuss and show off the new Theme Store. While we don’t expect this addition to launch with minor “point” releases of OxygenOS, it’s entirely likely that the Theme Store will be added when OnePlus rolls out OxygenOS powered by Android 12. Considering that Android 12 won’t be coming until September at the earliest, that’s when we can expect to see the update rolled out to OnePlus owners.

There’s not much to go off of in the way of how the Theme Store will look, but you can apply to be a part of the program over at the OnePlus Forums. We can only hope that the OxygenOS Theme Store will be a bit more organized and not a cluster of too many things going on at one time like we see with the theming options available on Samsung devices. One thing is for sure, we’d LOVE to see third-party options from some of the best theming and app-icon creators on the Play Store. So maybe there will be some type of integration between the two, or at least a portal for developers to easily upload their app icon packs to the OnePlus Theme Store.

The OEF event will be held on May 18th at 8 AM, and OnePlus is accepting applications starting today and lasting until May 12th. However, it’s important to note that the company is only accepting 15 total applications from OnePlus fans across the globe.
