Razer just announced the Kraken V3 X, a refreshed version of the Kraken X, which has been one of the company's best-selling headsets. Partially due to the price point at which it was offered.
And at around $60, how could anyone argue? Razer was delivering its usual high-quality gaming peripherals at a fairly low cost of entry. And when you compare that to some of the other headsets it offers, like the Black Shark V2 Pro which retails for $180, $well under $100 doesn't sound so bad.
Granted the Kraken X nor the Kraken V3 X have the same features as the high-end models. But they still deliver quality sound for your gaming sessions.
This latest version of the Kraken X headset does cost a little more than past versions. As it retails for $69.99. But it does come with some improvements that really do make it worth the extra $10-$20. For one, it now has Razer Chroma RGB lighting.
So if you tend to opt for these less expensive headsets, you can still have the cool RGB lighting synced with your other Razer Chroma gear. Razer also added some upgraded audio by swapping in some improved drivers.
Specifically it uses Razer's TriForce 40mm audio drivers which Razer says will give it enhanced immersion. To help with that immersion the headset also supports 7.1 surround sound. For the price, you should be getting some really good audio.
Especially if it's anything like the audio on the old Kraken V2 Chroma headset Razer used to sell for $99. Which delivered excellent audio for its price at the time.
How comfortable a headset is can determine how long you wear it while gaming. It doesn't matter how good the audio quality is. If the headset isn't comfortable, you're probably much less likely to wear it for extended periods of time.
A big contributing factor to comfort is the weight. Heavier headsets can become uncomfortable sooner. While we can't say for a certainty the Kraken V3 X will be extremely comfortable for everyone, it is pretty lightweight.
Razer says it weighs around 285g. It's also got pretty large hybrid fabric and memory foam ear cushions. So all-in-all it should feel like you're wearing clouds over your ears. You can pick up the new Kraken V3 X from Razer's website or from retailers like Amazon or Best Buy.
