Are you an avid mobile videographer, and need a good video editor? Well, AndroidPolice is saying that a powerful new Google Photos video editor is rolling out to users. Google has been pushing the monetization of its Google Photos service heavily lately.
The company recently ended the free storage plan in favor of pushing tiered plans which will start officially in June. The company is also hiding some editing tools behind a paywall. Those are two things the company is doing currently to monetize its Photos service.
However, the new video editor is a free perk that all users will be able to enjoy now. The video editor was originally teased back in February. Thankfully, the new update is now rolling out for everyone to enjoy. However, if you want to take advantage of this make sure you have the most recent version of the Photos app.
The new editor is indeed a powerful update. The old version only had support for stabilizing, rotating, and trimming. Now the new version adds extensive cropping options, individual frame exports, horizon correction, and audio removal.
For those out there who want to make sure they have the best color accuracy there are tools to help with that too. The support for color corrections covers brightness, contrast, white point, warmth, tint, skin color, vignette, and etc.
Users will also have access to the filters that are in the app’s image editing tool. However, for those users looking to build movies with the new editor, there is a bit of bad news. The new editor ends will not allow for combining clips to create short movies.
Google Photos is a powerful tool for users to be able to use. This introduction of a new more powerful video editor will undoubtedly make users happy. It is true that Google is introducing a money-first approach to Google Photos. But, with new features like this rolling out, users will find it hard to get angry.
Google is known for its solid software and features. After ending their free storage plan, Google is facing new competition in the cloud storage market. Amazon offers a good alternative for those who are already Amazon Prime Members.
Microsoft has its OneDrive service for storing photos, and for iPhone users, they have iCloud. Despite the competition, Google is looking to make Google Photos the premier photo storage service. With features like this new video editor, it looks like they may succeed. Check out some photos of the update below.
