Samsung phone owners who like to customize their experience will be happy to learn that the One UI Home app now allows custom folder grids. Or at least a close approximation of those, according to recent reports on the matter. Summarily, the new update allows users to have more apps on a single page in a home screen app folder.

The new One UI Home Folder Grids aren't exactly like those in 3rd-party launchers

Now, this update is effectively made possible by the fact that Samsung pushed its home screen UI app separately to the Google Play Store and Galaxy Store. That helps the company push changes to the UI without the need for a full firmware update. In effect, ensuring it updates more like some of the best third-party launcher replacements. But, of course, there are some drawbacks here as well.

Unlike many of those other apps, the new update to Samsung One UI Home won't allow truly custom grids in folders. Instead, this update simply adds a second option. Now, users can assign their folders to show in a 3-by-4 or 4-by-4 grid pattern.

The change should make it easier to fit all apps in a single folder page, rather than swiping through folder pages. Or, at the very least, it will for those users with 16 apps in a folder instead of 12. But it won't allow larger folders found in some third-party launchers. At least not yet, although more options are always better.

Here's how to access the new Samsung custom folder grids

To access the new feature, users will need to start by navigating to the Google Play or Galaxy Store. Specifically, to update the Samsung One UI Home application. Then, they'll need to navigate to Settings and to the "Home screen settings" options.

There are now two options for screen grids. The first is "Home screen grid" and that does what the branding entails. The new addition is the "Apps screen grid." A tap on that will showcase the currently available options.
