If you own the cheapest Galaxy A-series phone, i.e. the Samsung Galaxy A01, then there is a piece of good news for you. Samsung is pushing the stable Android 11 update for the Galaxy A01 that comes with One UI 3.0.
Yes! You heard it right. The Galaxy A01, which was launched back in 2019, is now receiving the Android 11 update. Notably, it came with an Android 10 One UI 2.0 update out of the box.
So, this Android 11 update will be the first major firmware update for the phone. This update also makes Galaxy A01’s grand entry to the Android 11 bandwagon.
Along with adding all the new features and goodies of Android 11 and Samsung’s One UI 3.0, the update also bumps the security patch level to the latest April 2021.
This is actually brilliant considering other manufacturers are still struggling to provide Android 11 updates to its devices, let alone the latest security patches.
The official changelog or the size of the update is not known yet. But we would advise the owners of Samsung Galaxy A01 to download this update on a stable Wi-Fi internet, considering it is a firmware update.
Talking about the features, it includes Android 11 features such as chat bubbles, a conversation section in the notifications area, a one-time permissions option, dedicated media playback widget.
Moreover, it also adds One UI 3.0 goodies including AOD, lock screen tweaks, redesigned volume controls, Samsung Free, more Dynamic Lockscreen options, improved device care section, etc.
This Galaxy A01 Android 11 update arrives with firmware version A015FXXU4BUD8. As per Sammobile, it is currently live for Samsung Galaxy A01 model number SM-A015F in Russia.
Although there is no clarity or official ETA, we expect the update to expand over to more regions in the coming days.
As always, this official update is rolling out via OTA in batches for Galaxy A01. This means it will be gradually available for all users in the active region. If you still haven’t received the update then, you can manually check for it on your Galaxy A01 phone.
In order to do this, you need to head over to the “Settings” menu, then navigate to “System updates.” From there, tap the “Download and install” option. This will trigger your Galaxy A01 to begin checking for the new Android 11 update.
You can proceed with downloading and installation of the update if your device detects a new update.
