Spotify has been doing a lot of stuff in 2021. Now, the company has come up with some new and interesting ways to share content. These new ways of sharing content are now live.
This news comes straight from the Spotify blog. The first new way of sharing is called You Gotta Hear This Part. It’s a pretty nifty feature, actually. Normally, when you share a podcast with someone, they’ll be taken to the beginning of the episode. With You Gotta Hear This Part, you can choose the moment you want the episode to start when you share it.
If you hear a particularly funny or enlightening part in an episode, you can make it so that the episode starts right from that moment. It’s as easy as tapping the share button and toggling the switch on the screen that will say “Share from” and then the time in the podcast that you are currently at.
This next one isn’t exactly a new way of sharing, but it makes the whole process easier. The sharing menu has gotten an overhaul.
When sharing canvases or tracks, the list of apps that you share to will be presented in an easy-to-read grid. The list will be based on the apps that you have installed. Along with the UI tweaks, Spotify also integrated Canvas previews. Now, when you want to share a Canvas, you will be able to preview how it will look before you send it.
Rounding out the list, Spotify has now added the ability to share Canvases and tracks via Snapchat. This will definitely make users of the platform very happy.
Spotify has been hard at work over the past couple of months. Making the news not too long ago was their foray into the hardware business. It recently launched its device called the Car Thing. It’s a device that attaches to the car dashboard and plays music via Bluetooth. You use it to navigate the Spotify app while you’re on the road. At the time of writing this article, it’s being tested on a limited audience.
Spotify also partnered with Facebook to implement its player directly into the Facebook app. You can listen to your music without having to leave the app at all. It was originally called “Project Boombox.”
Lastly, Spotify unveiled paid podcast subscriptions on the platform. Podcasters can now charge customers for certain content. It employs a Patreon-like tier system where higher tiers cost more money, but you get more perks. The company will not take a cut of the revenue until some time in 2023.
