Ever since launch, one thing that Stadia has lacked was a search bar. A simple, yet efficient way to search for games that may or may not be on the platform. A search bar has been one of the most requested features by Stadia users. And today, Google is finally giving the players what they’ve been asking for.

Up until now, finding games on Stadia has been limited to simply browsing through the library. In the very beginning things were a little more convoluted. As there was a general lack of organization across the entire Stadia Store. But as time went on, Google began adding game genres to help filter things down.

That in and of itself was a big improvement. But Stadia was still missing a more complete way to browse and find new games. With Stadia coming from a company that reached where it is today because of search engine, not having the same kind of feature just felt strange. That ends today.

Google is adding a search bar to the Stadia Store starting tomorrow

One very important thing to keep in mind with the arrival of the search bar, is that it’s rolling out to Stadia uses starting today. And that means that it is possible not everyone will see it go live at the same time.

It may end up taking a day or two or three to reach everyone. Having said that, the feature is officially being introduced and should be available to all Stadia users before the coming weekend is over. Google doesn’t give a specific time frame in regards to how long the rollout will take.

But there’s no reason to suggest it should take any longer than a few more days beyond the beginning of the initial rollout.

More features are on the way with an updated library UI

A search bar isn’t the only thing coming to Stadia today. Google is also adding a refreshed library UI that makes it easier to filter game titles based on whether or not they’re Pro titles, purchased titles, and free titles.

As for what’s coming in the future, Google will be adding an activity feed where players can share their most epic gaming moments that they’ve captured from gameplay. It’s also going to be possible to delete captured content in bulk, but only when viewing these on the Stadia web page. This means you won’t be able to do so from the Stadia app or on Stadia via the Chromecast Ultra.

Lastly, it’s going to be possible to access Stadia from the Android web browser soon. You’ll still be able to access it through the app, but it won’t be required like it is now. At the moment there is no set release date for the bulk delete, activity feed, or Android web browser access.
