It’s been a long time coming, a duo of 2019 flagship phones are finally getting the Android 11 update. There’s finally an Android 11 update for OnePlus 7 phones. The update is rolling out to the OnePlus 7 Pro, 7T, and the 7T Pro.

The Android 11 update for OnePlus 7 phones is rolling out gradually

According to 9to5Google, news that the updates are arriving came via changelogs on the T-Mobile support website. The models specified are the OnePlus 7 Pro, 7T, and the 7T Pro Mclaren edition. This comes approximately six months after the update started arriving on the OnePlus 8 models.

The update started arriving on the OnePlus 7 Pro models first On April 9. A few days later, the update made it to the 7T Pro model on the 14th. Owners of these phones can breathe a sigh of relief, as there hasn’t been any word on whether they were going to see an update at all

The news is bittersweet (though, mostly sweet) as the update comes with the older security patch from February. Hopefully, T-Mobile and OnePlus can get that up to date soon. The Android 11 update is based on Oxygen OS version 11.0.1.1.

The OnePlus 7T and Pro phones are still compelling in 2021

The OnePlus 9 duo of phones are still catching the public eye, but that doesn’t mean that their predecessors aren’t still relevant today. It had a 6.55-inch 1080p+ Fluid AMOLED HDR10+ display that could run at 90Hz. Powering it was the Snapdragon 855+ paired with the Adreno 640 GPU. It came with 128 GB of storage backed up by 8 GB of RAM. The 3800 mAh battery seems small today, but it was definitely enough back in 2019.

The OnePlus 7T Pro had a slightly larger screen at 6.67 inches. It 1-ups the 7T by having a screen that’s QHD+, but it still retains the 90 Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ technology. The display is notch-less due to the fact that the selfie camera is popped out with a motorized mechanism. Other differences include the 256 GB base storage with the option of either 8 or 12 GB of RAM. The battery was slightly bigger at 4085 mAh.

The camera packages are nearly identical on both models. The only exception is the fact that the OnePlus 7T has a 12 MP telephoto camera, whereas the 7T Pro has an 8 MP telephoto camera. Other than that, both phones have a triple camera setup for the rear consisting of a main 48 MP camera, a telephoto camera, and a 16 MP ultrawide camera.

The OnePlus 7 Pro has a mix of the specs of both of the models, striking a good balance between the two.

With the Android 11 update for OnePlus 7 phones, these 2019 flagships just got a lot better. The OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro are great options for powerful and affordable phones running Android 11. You can find both models for under $500 on average.
