Telegram has released the Voice Chats 2.0 that includes new features and improved performance. The latest version is intended to compete with Clubhouse.
The rapid growth of Clubhouse has made other applications look for voice chatting. Even some big companies like Google and Facebook are planning to add this feature to their apps. But in the meantime, Telegram is working more seriously on voice chats, and it just released the second version of its Voice Chats.
In the new version, voice chats are available at channels too, and a bunch of new features are added to make it more appealing. The first thing is limitless voice chats that allow admins and public groups to run live events without any limit for joined users. Telegram believes this is like the reinvention of radio for the 21st century.
Voice chats sometimes could be informative and exciting, but some users may lose the chance to join. At Voice Chats 2.0, admins can record conversations and publish the recorded audio for users who missed it. The recorded event will be available at Saved Messages just after finishing the recording. Moreover, if the admin decides to record the event, other users will be noticed through a red light.
The next feature is Raise Hands that participants can use it ask for permission to speak. This is useful at muted events. Also, the Telegram bio is now visible to other participants at the event. This is an excellent chance to highlight your areas of expertise.
For users who want to invite others to an event, admins can share invite links. The links are divided into two types of Speaker and Listener, and guests can participate in the event based on their accessibility. The title of the event will also be shown to the guests.
Telegram has also provided the option to join with a personal account title or the channel title. This is good for some famous people who don’t want to be recognized and receive a flood of messages.
Other features added in the new update include resuming playback for long voices, customizing the swiping left in the chat list, and a new message forwarding option.
The Clubhouse is currently available for iOS users only, and new users can join via invite links. But this is not going to be forever. The company said that they’re working on the Android version to expand their reach.
Of course, the voice chats battleground will have new players in the short term. Twitter just released the “Spaces” feature that works just like Clubhouse. Instagram also has a similar feature called “Live Rooms,” which allows for video streaming with up to three users.
