The Black Shark 4 and Black Shark 4 Pro are now official, and unless you're really in tune with the mobile gaming market, you might not ever know these are phones designed specifically for gaming.

Yes, the Black Shark 4 and Black Shark 4 Pro almost look like regular smartphones. With very little flashy gamer-centric designs to draw attention. Love it or hate it, this is the design Black Shark has chosen to go with. Providing users with a very capable yet, stealthy piece of hardware. At first glance, most people would probably be none the wiser.

And that's a design choice for gaming phones that hasn't really been utilized much at all since Razer's second phone. Even the ROG Phone 5, which has the least "gaming phone" look of every model ASUS has made so far, still has some more noticeable gaming style. Now think of that and then tone it down just a few more notches. That's the Black Shark 4 and Black Shark 4 Pro.

The official Black Shark 4 series launch is China-only for now

US-based consumers eyeballing the Black Shark 4 or Black Shark 4 Pro are being left out of this launch. For now at least.

Today marks the arrival of the new phone but Black Shark is only releasing it in China initially. Consumers in China will be able to order the device beginning on March 26. As for pricing, the phone will retail at a starting price of 2,499 Yuan, which is just under $400. Around $383 to be exact.

For that price, you get 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Not exactly what you expect to see from gaming phones these days. Even the most basic models. Then again, it is right on par with the price Black Shark is charging.

It will also offer more powerful variations though. You can get up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage on the Black Shark 4 for 3,299 Yuan. But if you want the device that's comparable to the other power houses, the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate and the new RedMagic 6 Pro, then you want to go for the Black Shark 4 Pro that comes with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It comes with better specs, but also a higher price of 5,299 Yuan.

A global released is planned for "in the near future"

A China-only release of these phones is really nothing new. But that doesn't mean there won't be a global release at all. In fact a global release of the two new phones is planed, but not until later this year.

Black Shark is offering multiple colors for these devices. Including Black, Gray, Pink, Blue, and Cyan. Though there's no word on whether or not all of these colors are available for both models or if they'll all make it to the global release.
