Today OnePlus has announced its newest device series to hit the market, the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro, both of which come with the Fluid Display panel. Albeit, the OnePlus 9 Pro comes with the new Fluid Display 2.0 technology.

While there are a couple of key improvements over the original Fluid Display, for the OnePlus 9 Pro, a new faster touch syncing rate is one detail that mobile gamers will want to pay attention to. Because the faster the touch response, the more times the screen recognizes finger inputs, and that could lead to more shots fired in a single second during an intense match.

OnePlus 9 Pro comes with Fluid Display 2.0, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and Hyper Touch

When it comes to the touch response time on the OnePlus 9 Pro, there are two things to pay attention to. There's the actual touch sampling rate, which is 240Hz. Then there's the improved syncing speed between the display and the processor.

240Hz is the same touch sampling rate that you get with the OnePlus 9, however the OnePlus 9 comes with the older Fluid Display panel and not the new 2.0 version. This is a decent touch sampling rate, but the OnePlus 9 Pro can increase the syncing speed between the screen and the processor thanks to the Hyper Touch feature.

OnePlus says this can boost the syncing speed of the OnePlus 9 Pro up to 360Hz. Which is up to six times faster than before. Basically this just means you should have a very responsive touch screen for games. Especially for the ones where it counts the most – competitive online multiplayer titles like PUBG MOBILE or Call Of Duty: Mobile.

The refresh rate adjusts to your usage scenario

Fluid Display 2.0 isn't just a benefit for anyone who likes mobile gaming, it's also a benefit to OnePlus 9 Pro users who don't play games. Fluid Display 2.0 enables an adjustable refresh rate for the display that will change based on your usage.

More specifically the refresh rate can go all the way up to 120Hz or all the way down to 1Hz depending on your usage scenario. All of this can happen automatically, so you can just use the phone how would you normally and it'll attune to what it is you're doing.

Whether that's browsing the web, scrolling through Reddit, or watching videos. OnePlus says this helps with the power consumption of the device. As you won't be using up as much battery when the display dumps down to a lower refresh.

Both the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus Pro go on sale later this month via pre-order. With official sales opening up on April 2.
