If you've got an Xbox Series X controller, you unfortunately may be experiencing input recognition issues with some of its buttons.
According to new and recent reports from users, some of the buttons aren't recognizing button taps. Which can of course lead to a whole host of other problems. Namely your games simply not working as intended because you can't relay to the game that you're taking action.
While this is a definite problem, it's not one that seems to be impacting the majority of Xbox Series X owners. Or the majority of those that own the new controller and use it with other platforms like Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs. It does appear to be widespread enough though that it's not just a few people.
Thankfully, it doesn't seem like the missed inputs are happening all of the time. One video shows the issues popping up. Displaying that it's happening some of the time but not on every single button press.
The video only shows that it's happening with the X, Y, B, A action buttons. But that doesn't mean it's not an issue with the triggers or the D Pad or the thumbsticks. Microsoft also says it's aware of the problem and is working on a fix.
For the time being however, the company has not confirmed a time frame for when the issue will get patched out. Which means that any users who are experiencing the problem may just have to deal with it for now. Unless they want to go through swapping the controller out through a warranty or buy a new one.
Having said that, it's probably recommended to wait on a warranty replacement and especially, buying a new controller. Since this is likely a software thing that Microsoft can fix with an update to the controller itself.
Worth mentioning is that this appears to be a problem with the controller regardless of what platform it's connected to. So whether you're playing on the new Series X or on your gaming PC, you have the potential to run into it.
So this will certainly be a fix that Microsoft has to push out through a controller update. And not one that targets the systems it's being used with.
If you've got the missed inputs on your own new wireless controller, keep an eye out for fixes as they should be coming soon. If you have one of the older controllers, which don't have dedicated share buttons, then you shouldn't be experiencing this issue.
