Update: Google I/O 2021 dates have been revealed. Google I/O will take place May 18 through May 20.

And it’ll be free for everyone to watch and attend.

After cancelling Google I/O last year due to the Coronavirus and having several separate virtual events, Google is bringing back I/O. But it’ll still be virtual. Google has not yet released the dates for I/O, but it has released the puzzle so you can help find out when the dates for this year’s conference is set to take place.

It’ll likely be in May this year, which is typically when Google I/O would normally take place. And since the first beta of the new version of Android usually drops at Google I/O and that is set for next month. It sounds plausible that it’ll be May again this year. Though we’ll have to solve the puzzle to be sure.

Microsoft’s BUILD is set for May 25-27 and Apple’s WWDC is set for June 5-7, for their respective developer conferences.

What is Google I/O?

Google I/O is the company’s annual developer conference. It’s mostly geared towards developers, so you’ll hear about changes to APIs, and other things. But we also usually get the first public beta for the latest version of Android. Which this year is Android 12.

Since Google has grown to such a behemoth of a company, Google I/O covers all sorts of products now. Of course, Android is still a big focus for Google. But it also covers Adsense, Google Analytics, Photos, Drive and so much more. All of its products are represented at Google I/O.

Typically, Google I/O has a massive keynote on the first day to open things up. This is where Google will go over its bigger announcements, generally in a two to three hour show. Then the next few days there are side-chats and sessions where they dive deeper into these announcements.

Either way, Google I/O is basically a Google fan’s Christmas.
