Xiaomi has decided to reshape its logo, and announce a new brand identity along with that change. This announcement comes as part of all the smartphone launches that the company did in the last couple of days.

The company’s logo is still easily recognizable, but it no longer has sharp corners. Xiaomi decided to round those corners, which does change the look of its logo quite a bit.

In addition to that, it changed the ‘Xiaomi’ typography, as you can see in an image shown below. It essentially used a different font to write out the name ‘Xiaomi’. That font does look quite sleek, and goes well with the new logo. The ‘Mi’ itself, inside the company’s logo’, remains unchanged, basically.

This new branding is called “Alive”, and it has been designed by a Japanese graphic designer, Kenya Hara. Xiaomi said that it wanted a “more agile look”, which symbolizes its agile nature. This is supposed to be it.

This announcement was a part of Xiaomi’s mega launch press event. That event span throughout two days, and Xiaomi announced quite a few devices during it.

For global markets, the company announced the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11 Lite (4G & 5G), Mi 11i, Mi Smart Band 6, and Mi Smart Projector 2 Pro. For China, it also announced the Mi 11 Ultra and Lite (5G variant), in addition to the Mi 11 Pro and Mi MIX Fold.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra and Mi MIX Fold are arguably the most interesting smartphones the company announced. The first one is the ultimate flagship from the company, while the second one is its first foldable smartphone.

Xiaomi managed to grow quite a bit in the last couple of years. When it comes to the smartphone market, it did great last year. Huawei’s downfall in the smartphone market certainly helped Xiaomi. It remains to be seen what will happen by the end of 2021, but things are looking good for this Chinese tech giant.
