USB-C is getting increasingly popular, and as that happens, there are more and more reasons you might want to buy a USB-C to HDMI cable. Sure, USB-C monitors are getting more popular, but they're not totally common yet — and even then, it's unlikely we'll see products like TVs switch to USB-C any time soon. iVanky is the latest company to join the slew of brands launching USB-C to HDMI cables of their own.
But iVanky's cables seem to be a little different from the rest. Cables can actually be tricky to buy. Most want a strong cable that's going to last, but not everyone is willing to pay a ton of cash to get them. iVanky has two affordable alternatives: a USB-C to female HDMI adapter, which you can use with a standard HDMI cable, and a full USB-C to HDMI cable. Both come at under $17, have a braided nylon sleeve, and support features like a 4K resolution at 60Hz.

USB-C to HDMI anytime, anywhere
The iVanky HDMi to USB-C adapter is inexpensive, well-built, and allows you to use all your HDMI cables with USB-C devices. That inclues your MacBook, phone, laptop, or tablet.
But does iVanky cut corners to reach that price point? We put both of the company's USB-C to HDMI cables to the test to find out.
Cables this inexpensive usually aren't very durable, but this one seemed to avoid those issues. The cables are both high-quality and premium, and feel like they'll last for years to come.
That largely comes from the fact that they have a nice, braided nylon sleeve. The result? I tried to stretch, bend, and rip the cables, and none of it worked. That abuse was much more rigorous than what average cables go through in day-to-day use, and as a result, you won't need to replace them any time soon.
Of course, this doesn't really matter with cables, but they look pretty nice, too. Most will want to hide the cables behind the desk or entertainment center, but if there's anything exposed the braided nylon helps give these cables a modern look, while the gray-and-black color scheme helps them remain subtle.
Using these cables is dead simple. They'll work with any USB-C compatible device that supports a display: simply plug them in, like you would any other cable.
You might be surprised just how many devices support displays. There are the obvious ones, like your recent MacBook or another laptop. But there are others too. For example, you can use a display with many phones in their desktop mode, like Samsung's DeX. Or, you can use it with the iPad Pro to get a larger display for things like productivity and entertainment. It's a handy cable to have -- even if you don't think you really need one right now.
Sold on the cables? As mentioned, there are two different options, and the longer cable is available in either 6.6-foot or 10-foot models. And they're well worth considering. As mentioned, both of them are incredibly strong, and if you're in the market for a USB-C to HDMI cable or adapter, these are the models you should buy.
