Attention all Zenfone 7 owners cause this is for you. Android 11 for the Zenfone 7 is rolling out now according to XDA-Developers. The best part about this news is that it is rolling out globally to all markets. It is always good to know that your device is still being supported.
The version number for the new update is 30.40.30.96. Ironically over on ZenTalk Forums, the release post seems like it is just to improve system stability and another problem. This is according to the release note which only lists those two. Apparently, ASUS likes to surprise its users with more.
XDA-Developers though have been given confirmation by an ASUS PR rep that this is the Android 11 update. Besides that, confirmation one of their tipsters shared a screenshot of the update hitting their device. Sure enough, point number one says “upgraded system to Android 11.”
ASUS is not the fastest OEM when it comes to rolling out updates. Thankfully, though the global rollout of the stable Android 11 update is in motion. Despite not being fast the company is developer-friendly which is a positive for power users out there.
Although this is the stable Android 11 release it may have some bugs just like other releases. Hopefully, that is not the case though. In addition to getting the fully Android 11 update, the March 2021 security update is built-in.
The full changelog has numerous things in it. First, the update brings the Android version up to version 11. Secondly, it updates applications such as smart housekeeper, contact person, phone, file management, computer, clock, picture library, weather, recording program, settings, one-key switch, and local backup.
Thirdly, the devices will now support one-time permissions and improved file access permission control. Automatic reset permissions and other private functions are along for the ride too. Next, there is support for maintaining a Bluetooth connection when airplane mode is turned on.
ASUS also is adjusting the Android 11 notification bar style and supporting displaying notifications on ongoing conversations. The classic power button style supports Android 11 device control and Google Pay. There is also the use of buttons to adjust the volume and return to advanced gesture settings.
Users will also be able to adjust the style and automatically switch the color setting of the system. The notification settings are adding notification records and dialog settings. The devices will now be able to adjust the quick settings panel interface and support media control. The nearby sharing option is also along for the ride.
Not bad for an update that at first seemed to only have two changes.
