Apex Legends is one of the top battle royale games on PC and consoles, and it’s finally coming to mobile this month, starting with a regional beta.

Today EA announced the coming of the game to reaffirm that it is still in development and on the way. However, the regional beta will be limited to just two countries at first. This includes the Philippines, and India, and will be limited to a few thousand players initially. As EA wants to keep things small while it ramps up development with a live player base.

This is very similar to how Riot did things with League Of Legends: Wild Rift. And just like with Wild Rift, Apex Legends Mobile will expand its regional beta to more countries throughout the year.

The regional beta begins this month

Apex Legends Mobile will be opening to players in the two starting countries in April. And as April is almost over players in those countries can probably expect the game to arrive sometimes this week, or by next Friday at the latest.

Provided EA is able to stay on schedule. When the game goes live, it will have a lot to live up to. EA seems confident in its development so far though. Stating that the game offers the most advanced battle royale combat available on a phone. Controls and other elements have been optimized for touchscreen play, too.

Though EA says that Apex Legends Mobile stays true to the original version of the game regardless of its newfound on the go capabilities. The game will also remain free-to-play, with monetization through in-game micro transactions. Players can pick up a battle pass as well, but it will have no cross-play support with the PC and console versions of the game.

In addition to new information about the game’s development, EA has also shared the first screenshots. Based on these images the game is looking pretty good.

However its graphics still look a tad bit rough around the edges. Landscapes and other level details don’t look as good as the player models. Though this could change as development continues. The regional beta will also be available on Android only for now. iOS development is taking place, but support for the platform won’t come until later.

You’ll also be able to pre-register for Apex Legends Mobile in the future, once EA feels the game is ready for a broader reach and more players.
