We’re sure many of you have seen photos and videos of people with smart lighting in their home. It seems like such a fantastic idea where you can control your lights using your phone or digital assistant, but we know that some of you might be worried that such a setup could be prohibitively expensive.

In some cases, that might be true, but in the case of Daybetter, they seem to be the exception to the rule. The company’s smart LED strips on Amazon are being sold for $35.99, but if you were to use the coupon, you can pick it up for just $16.99 – what a steal, right? The best part is that it isn’t exclusive to any particular digital assistant or smart home platform as it will play nice with both Amazon’s Alexa and Google Assistant.

How to setup and control your Daybetter smart LED strips

Setting up your Daybetter smart LED strips is incredibly easy. To provide power to the LED strips, just connect the adapter to the IR receiver and the IR receiver to the LED strips themselves.

You then plug it into a power source like a wall outlet and you’re all good to go! It really is that simple, and straightaway without any fiddling or dealing with hubs and WiFi, you can use the included remote control to control the lights, turn it on or off, change the color, the brightness, and so on.

Alternatively, if you prefer using your smartphone to control the lights, setting it up is pretty easy and straightforward. All you need to do is:

  1. Download the Tuya Smart app
  2. Ensure your phone is connected to your WiFi
  3. Connect your LED strips, plug them in, and then unplug them in succession
  4. Repeat this three times until the LED lights start flashing
  5. Launch the app and tap the + button
  6. Select Lighting, choose Strip Lights
  7. Enter your WiFi login credentials and click done once you’ve successfully connected

You can also control the LED light strip through its included control box. This means that in addition to the included IR remote, the Tuya Smart app, and the control box, there are three different ways that you can control the LED light strip, giving you more than enough options to make it a bit more flexible.

Why choose Daybetter’s smart LED light strips?

When it comes to smart LED light strips or LED lights in general, there are many, many options available, but they don’t always come cheap. Some are also troublesome to set up as it involves using hubs which means one more thing you’ll need to set up and think about.

With Daybetter’s LED light strips, they are not only cheaper, but they can also do almost everything the competition does.

This includes hassle-free voice control where it will work with Alexa and Google Assistant, so if you own devices like an Amazon Echo smart speaker or a Nest Home speaker, you can control the lights using your voice.

They can also be used to sync to music playback, so if you want the lights to glow and pulsate to your favorite beats, then the Daybetter LED light strips will deliver. Also, since they are made using LEDs, they have a very impressive lifespan that the company claims is good for 50,000 hours, meaning that they should be able to last you for a very long time without burning out.

The Daybetter strips are also sold in 2x 25 feet strips, which should be long enough to cover most rooms, and given how cheap it is, you can always buy more if you need the extra lights and not worry about breaking the bank.

Users can also create themes and moods with the Daybetter LED strips. These themes and moods can be saved so you can quickly go back to them again if you need them. You can create themes for when you’re watching movies, or when you want a romantic night in, or when it’s time to work, and so on.

The accompanying smartphone app will also give users the ability to set timers and schedules, so your lights can turn on when it’s evening and turn themselves off during the day. These are some of the features that many people use smart lighting for and all of this can be had in a set of smart LED strips that only cost $16.99.

Should you get the Daybetter LED light strips?

If you’re still on the fence regarding smart lighting and whether or not this is something worth investing in, we understand. After all, regular light bulbs are so much cheaper and they just work, so we understand that dropping $20 or so for a single smart LED bulb might give you some pause.

Daybetter’s smart lighting solution, however, is a much more affordable alternative and could be a good entrance to creating a smarter home. At worst if you don’t like it, you would only have spent $16.99, but if you do like what they have to offer, then you would have gotten yourself a steal.
