When the Poco F1 was introduced, there was much fanfare about it due to the combination of specs and pricing. Since then, Poco has released a few other phones, with the Poco X3 NFC coming last year. Since the F1’s introduction to the market, other smartphone makers have been making a play in this budget market, including OnePlus with the Nord series of devices.
But what has helped Poco continues to stand out from the crowd with its inclusion of specs and build quality that you wouldn’t expect to see in a device this cheap. The Poco X3 NFC was one of our favorite phones of 2020 with its incredible value proposition, along with long-lasting battery life and 120Hz display. But now it seems that Poco is ready to up the ante with the X3 Pro, so let’s check out what to expect from the company’s latest flagship killer.
For the most part, there won’t be very many changes made to the design of the Poco X3 Pro compared to the X3 NFC. The company’s outlined logo still appears on the back, pointing up the x-shaped camera module with a slight bulge outwards. The device is said to come in several different colors including Phantom Black, Metal Bronze, and Frost Blue.
The fingerprint scanner has been moved to the side of the phone, placed right below the volume rocker, and likely doubling as the phone’s power button. In recent days, Poco has teased that the display of the X3 Pro could feature Corning’s Gorilla Glass 6 for improved drop and scratch protection, which is likely to come in quite nicely for those who have a tendency of dropping their phones.
While some may not exactly love the general design with the protruding camera module and Poco branding plastered on the back, it’s still quite the looker. And it makes sense for Poco to not change up the design too much since this still technically falls under the Poco X3 family of devices.
One of the reasons why the Poco F1 and Poco X3 NFC were so well-received had everything to do about the specs and value. It seems that Poco is gearing up to have another winner on its hands, as rumors for the specifications of the X3 Pro are rather impressive.
When you look at these specs, you would think that this is a phone gearing up to be launched as a flagship option. But it just goes to show that Xiaomi and Poco have found the right recipe and have made cuts where possible to create one powerhouse smartphone without breaking the bank.
Speaking of price, nothing has been officially revealed, as of yet, but rumors suggest pricing for the Poco X3 Pro could start at just €269 ($321) for the base 6GB/128GB model and go up to €319 ($381) for the 8GB/256GB variant. Even with the inclusion of an LCD display instead of AMOLED, this is an absolutely fantastic value providing a flagship-level experience at a fraction of the price.
Poco currently has an event scheduled for March 22nd where the Poco X3 Pro is likely to be announced. We aren’t sure if the company will be revealing any other products at the event, but we do know that the X3 Pro will be the star of the show. From there, leaks suggest that the phone could launch in India as soon as March 30th, before arriving in other markets at a later date.
The Poco X3 Pro is not expected to see an official launch here in the U.S., so you’ll have to rely on sites like GearBest to have this behemoth imported from abroad.
