Samsung has started rolling out the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 update to the Galaxy A31. The mid-ranger is currently picking up the new update in the company’s home country South Korea. The rollout should reach broader markets in the coming days.

The Android 11 update for the Galaxy A31 comes with the firmware version A315NKSU1CUD3 for users in South Korea. The package has a download size of 2,036.12MB. The update also brings this month’s Android security patch, which contains fixes for several dozen vulnerabilities found on Android OS as well as Samsung’s software.

However, it’s the Android 11 update that we are more interested in, given the Galaxy A31 is one of Samsung’s most popular phones. The mid-ranger was the fourth best-selling Android smartphone globally in January 2021. Launched in March 2020 with Android 10-based One UI 2.1, the device is now making the big jump to Android 11 (One UI 3.1).

Android 11 updated released for the Galaxy A31

Android 11-based One UI 3.1 brings tons of goodies to Samsung smartphones. Along with a refreshed visual design and icons, there are plenty of other enhancements as well as new features. A feature-rich Samsung keyboard, improved stock apps, support for chat bubbles, and one-time permissions are some of the new additions.

One UI 3.1 also brings a dedicated conversations section and a media player widget in the notification area. Features like Eye comfort shield (enhanced blue light filter), improved Dynamic Lockscreen options, video backgrounds for voice calls, app permissions auto reset, improved Digital Wellbeing and parental controls, and the ability to remove location data from images before sharing with others are also part of the package.

As mentioned earlier, the Android 11 update for the galaxy A31 is currently rolling out for users in South Korea. However, it should only be a matter of time before the update reaches more territories. It’s pertinent to mention here that software updates are released in batches and may not reach all eligible units simultaneously. You should receive a notification prompting you to download the update over the air (OTA) once it becomes available for your phone.

You can also manually check for software updates by navigating inside the Software update menu in your phone’s Settings app. Now tap on Download and install to check if you have any OTA update pending download. Since this is a major update for the Galaxy A31 (weighing around 2GB), we recommend you connect your phone to a stable Wi-Fi network before downloading the OTA file.
