Samsung has started rolling out the Android 11 update to the 4G variant of the Galaxy A71, complete with One UI 3.1. The device is currently picking up the latest update in select countries in Europe and North America. The update carries the firmware version A715FXXU3BUB5 and also bundles the February 2021 Android security patch.
To recall, the 5G variant of the Galaxy A71 has already received the Android 11 update last month. However, the update came with One UI 3.0. Its 4G counterpart is now picking up a newer version of One UI.
One UI 3.1 debuted with the Galaxy S21 series in January this year. Since then, Samsung has pushed the latest version of its custom Android skin to all its recent flagships, including the Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy S20, Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy S10, Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy Tab S7, and the Galaxy Tab S6.
The Galaxy A71 (4G) mid-ranger is now getting it as well. The device is making the jump from One UI 2.5 to One UI 3.1, so it's a fairly big update. According to a SamMobile report, the update weighs roughly 2.7GB over the air (OTA). We recommend you connect your phone to a stable Wi-Fi network before downloading the OTA file.
This update brings tons of new goodies to the Samsung mid-ranger. A new, feature-rich Samsung Keyboard, Nearby Share, notification bubbles, redesigned UI, Samsung Free, double-tap to sleep, and enhanced privacy controls are some of the notable changes.
One UI 3.1 additionally brings enhanced Single Take, Object Eraser, Multi-Mic Recording, Private Share, and Eye Comfort Shield. The latest One UI version also brings automatic switching of Galaxy Buds between compatible devices. Last but not least, One UI 3.1 adds the ability to remove GPS location data from photos. It's unclear though if all these features are making it into the Galaxy A71 (4G).
As mentioned earlier, the One UI 3.1 update for the Galaxy A71 (4G) is currently rolling in Europe and North America. The latest release should be making its way to other regions in the coming weeks.
Note that it is an incremental update and may not be available for all eligible units simultaneously. You should receive a notification to download the OTA file once it becomes available for your phone. You can also manually check for updates by navigating to the Software update menu in your phone's Settings app and then hitting the Download and install option.
