The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is tipped to launch in July, and both the phone’s weight and battery capacity have just been revealed. It seems like the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be lighter than its predecessor.
According to Ice Universe, a well-known tipster, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be 13 grams lighter than its predecessor. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 weighs 282 grams, so the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will weigh 269 grams. It will still be quite heavy, but less so than its predecessor.
The source also confirmed that the phone will use the Snapdragon 888 SoC, as both Tron and Mauri QHD (tipsters) have been saying. Ice Universe believed an AMD-boosted Exynos SoC is a possibility, but now he says that it won’t happen.
As a response to his tweet, Tron added that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will also be slimmer. We do not know the exact measurement, though. On top of that, the device’s battery capacity has been confirmed.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 got certified in China, it appeared on the 3C authority’s website. By doing so, it got its battery capacity confirmed. The device will use a 4,275mAh battery. Do note that it will use a dual-battery system, though.
The phone will ship with two batteries, 2,215mAh and 2,060mAh units. That will make sure that the weight distribution is spot on. This also means that the phone’s battery capacity will be lower than that of the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 shipped with a 4,500mAh battery, in total, so we’re looking at a 225mAh decrease here. This has probably been done to achieve a more compact form factor.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is tipped to offer an IP rating this time around. In other words, the device will be water and dust resistant. It will support the S Pen stylus, but likely won’t include a dock for it. The device is expected to arrive alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 3 (or Z Flip 2, we still don’t know its final name).
