It’s no secret that Gboard is one of the most popular keyboard apps on Android and iOS, and it’s also even available for Google TV. But today, Google has announced that an updated version of Gboard is arriving for Wear OS. Google revealed that you’ll have the ability to use your voice, a full QWERTY keyboard, or gestures. You’ll also have easy access to suggestions and corrections while being able to switch around between different languages if you need to.
Previously, Wear OS smartwatches used a simple keyboard app, aptly named Google Keyboard. However, with Gboard, you’re going to find a completely new interface and UI to make it easy to quickly respond to messages from your wrist, and leaving your phone in a different room or in your pocket.

Here are the new features coming to Gboard on WearOS:
Message the way you want to: Gboard supports multiple input methods so you can communicate whichever way you like. Text using the QWERTY keyboard and gesture input, or use voice input for a hands-free approach. And when things just can’t be expressed in words, the integrated emoji palette comes in handy. Enhanced suggestions and corrections: Scrollable word suggestions provide more options when you’re texting, so you can find that perfect word you’re looking for. The preview screen allows you to review and edit your message, with suggestions and corrections presented to you. Multi-language support: You can easily switch between keyboard languages directly from Gboard. While typing, simply tap the language shortcut at the bottom of the screen to choose which language the keyboard appears in. *Gboard will support all languages supported by Wear OS. By default, Gboard will be in the same language as the watch system, but users can change and add languages by long pressing the spacebar.
While there has been much focus on what’s to come with the Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, and Google’s rumored processor, 2021 could be a huge year for Wear OS. It’s possible that I/O will introduce a new version of Wear OS, which could be launched alongside the leaked Pixel Watch. Things are definitely heating up, and this could be the year of Google.
